From a tiny seed, a healthy plant with beautiful flowers will grow. At Fleur De Vie, which means “flower of life,” we’ve chosen to plant the seeds of learning in a country where there are countless barriers to education and illiteracy is the norm. Our wish is that one day all Haiti’s children will flower and grow into happy, well-educated citizens of the world.
What began with one afterschool program has grown to school partners. At first we taught 125 children; today we teach nearly 1,000. We are a team of professionals, who in partnership with a network of like-minded individuals, businesses, organizations, and communities are devoted to supporting the needs of Haitian not-for-profits through fundraising and campaign promotions.
“Education is the most powerful weapon
which you can use to change the world.”
Our mission is to support struggling not-for-profit organizations whose focus is to implement social change within their communities in the areas of education, health, and environmental sustainability.
During the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on January 10, 2010, two designers, Dayanne Danier and Jenny Batista, volunteered to help the children of Haiti recover through arts and crafts. What the two women saw was cataclysmic. They vowed to do more.
Danier and Batista created a plan for an afterschool program and partnered with the MEVA school in Port-au-Prince. As well as arts and crafts, they taught the 125 students English and Spanish vocabulary in this initial afterschool program. In 2011, Danier traveled back to Haiti and realized that there was still much that needed to be done. She and Batista decided to continue their work by forming Fleur De Vie, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Today, Fleur De Vie continues to support community outreach in areas that need it the most.
